Lake Powell

Saw Lake Powell and the Glen Canyon Dam. Foolishly didn't take any pictures. It was a relief to see water in the dry desert but unnerving at the same time seeing how desolate the land is around the water.

Wire Pass to Buckskin Gulch

I'd heard good things about Buckskin Gulch. I'd heard it was one of the longest continuous slot canyons in the world. I'd heard it had parts similar to Antelope Canyon and the Wave but without all the crowds. I did not hear how rough the road was to get there.

Off the highway, it's over 8 miles of bumpy dirt road. And no cell reception. Like driving on Mars, very red and rocky. It would've been a blast if I had an off-road vehicle (and one I didn't need to maintain), but it felt a bit dicey with my city-slickin' Kia. I really wasn't sure if it was gonna make it, but I just drove slowly and carefully, and it got there in one piece. Just got a bit dusty.

The trail to the slot canyons was relatively easy. You can see a big mysterious formation off in the distance, which is where you eventually end up.

And there are a lot of interesting rock formations on the sides of the trail to look at along the way.

Got to the slot canyons and they were just as cool as I was hoping they'd be.

Tried very hard not to Aron Ralston myself going over this part of the trail.

Made it to the end of the trail so it was time to head back. Lots of fun but I had had enough adventure for one day!
